2014/15 Mako Torq FAQs

Q: Why is Easton coming out with this bat?

A: We discovered that the hands tend to rotate relative to each other during the swing. Whether they know it or not, all hitters rotate their hands. With normal bats, that rotation is limited to the hitter's hand and wrist flexibility. Torq Technology frees up the hands, providing a player with a smooth swing path directly to and through the ball, while protecting the hands and wrists from wear and tear.

Q: "Shorter to the zone. Longer thru the zone." What does that mean?

A: All successful hitters get the barrel to the zone in a short, quick path and keep the barrel in the zone for as long as possible, allowing them to drive the ball to all fields. Torq Technology allows any hitter to have that kind of swing.

Q: So how is this better than a normal bat?

A: Normally, the hitter has to fight the bat to get in a strong, palm up, palm down hitting position. The Torq handle puts your hands in the optimal position automatically. All you have to do is take a few swings and the results will speak for themselves.

Q: Is this a training bat?

A: No, absolutely not. Training bats punish you unless you get it right. Torq Technology does the opposite: it enables you to get away with more. Give it a try. Start your hands anywhere and Torq Technology makes it nearly impossible to have an inefficient swing.

Q: What are players saying about it?

A: Players are raving about this bat because they are squaring up more pitches. They express a feeling of unlocking their hands and crushing pitches that they normally have trouble getting to.

Q: Won't this disrupt the swing?

A: NO. Once you pick it up, you will realize that it actually works with your swing. The handle does not rotate all the way around during the swing. In fact, the amount of rotation is so minimal that some players don't feel it at all. The results, on the other hand, are noticeable!

Q: Do I have to oil it?

A: No. The whole assembly is self-lubricating. There is no maintenance necessary. It will rotate just as smoothly on the first day of the season as it will in the championship game.

Q: What do I do if I want to choke up?

A: Hitters choke up in an effort to be shorter to the zone. Choking up becomes obsolete with the Torq handle. With the Torq bat, you will be so much shorter and quicker to the zone that choking up will not be necessary.

Q: What kind of hitter will benefit from using this bat?

A: Any hitter who wants to square up more pitches.
